They should make the CSIL easier to apply, remove the task log and time sheet and just allow people to hire full time care givers from other countries, there so much cheaper and hard working. This would result in less seniors going into care homes.

http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/hcc/pdf/CSIL_Review_FINAL_Synthesis_Report_Oct_7-08_.pdf

Here was a study done by the government - only 2% of people receiving home support are on the CSIL program, because of case managers not informing them of this benefit, I think there is a huge inside job in this with the home support agencies that hold these Government contracts and case managers. The government has to start investigating this fraud. So much money could be saved if more people were on the CSIL program, you can hire a live in care giver from overseas for 1200-1600 a month (Look all over the web), you will not even need 3000-4000. Thus the result, more seniors living at home, less hospital visits, and also no more long wait times for care homes.

Many canadians are unaware that the canadian government offers tax benefits and grants for anyone who has a physical or mental disability. Unfortunately collecting these benefits can be complicated and stressful. At the Canadian Disability Corporation they simplify the process to make sure you obtain every dollar possible from the CRA. On top of this, they will also ensure you’re applied to other programs available to people with disabilities such as the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP).
