FAQ

What is the cost of a live-in caregiver?
Based on a 40 hour work week, with a standard room and board charge, the net cost to the client will be around $1500/month (in BC) to employ a caregiver on the live-in caregiver program.

What are the wages?
Caregivers must be paid at least minimum wage, and are charged a maximum room and board fee of $325/month (in BC).

How long is the contract with the caregiver? What is my responsibility?
Contracts are usually for a period of 2 years. That being said, if circumstances are such that the client no longer has a need for the care, then the contract becomes void under the provincial labour standards. Basically, you pay for the amount of care that you receive, and are not locked in to any contract.

Does the caregiver need his/her own suite?
The live-in caregiver should have his/her own bedroom, with a lock on the door. There is no requirement to have a separate bathroom or suite.

How long does the process take?
The amount of time it takes to process a live-in caregiver depends on where the caregiver is coming from. With our company, it generally takes about 4 months for the caregiver to process.

What if I need someone sooner?
If you cannot wait for the overseas caregiver to process, we can offer you a temporary live-in as a “bridge” caregiver, that will provide for your care needs until your permanent live-in arrives.

Where are your caregivers from?
We are processing the majority of our live-in caregivers through the United Kingdom. Most of our caregivers are originally from the Philippines, and have a degree in nursing, and are currently working in private homes and care homes in the United Kingdom, and are looking to relocate to Canada as live-in caregivers. We also have caregivers that hail from India, Nepal, China, Thailand and Eastern Europe. Contact us and we can send you some candidates’ resumes today!
